color crush.

Color Crush
:

blue & red

shades of blue and shades of poppy red.
i cant get enough.

I love a powder blue wall, with any accent color really, but red is such a bold statement.. especially with a soft color like blue.
in the mood to paint.

What are some of your favorite color combinations, in your wardrobe or your decor?

favorite things.

Haven't really been motivated or inspired too much to blog.
Husband has our camera on the road with him, probably taking cooler pictures and video than i would ever take...
But til he comes home, i'll have to deal with iphone photos :)

FAVORITE THINGS:
Here are some snap-its of things that i like around my house.
Part 1
My precious asparagus fern, because it's still alive.

This little skeleton man is a souvenir from our honeymoon, but is also something we've had out year round, but now that its october i love it even more!
// and this cute little pumpkin & perfect shelf for it.
my twinkle Christmas lights that i keep up year round, because i can.

My spice rack filled with spools, its one of my favorite finds!// this patch of quilt. its my favorite patch, and i like for it to always be showing.
onto a sad thing: my dead basil. i need to read books about plants, so i can be better.

Can't believe Halloween is this weekend?!!! I'm usually so excited around this time, but im having a hard time getting motivated for halloween. hoping for the spirit to find me before sunday!

Day at the Park, all smiles.

Last week we went to the park for lunch. It was so nice outside and it really was just a perfect afternoon in the shade. What started as just a lunch date, turned into an entire day of hanging out. It was so fun.
We took a walk, (a long sweaty uncomfortable walk! ahha) went to get Mary Ellen (and husband) tattoos, and had an amazing dinner made by Dan. It was such a fun day. Sweet Sweet Fall memories being made.
love my friends.

Girls Night.

Girls
I have a really cool group of girl-friends in my life.
We all enjoy the simple things in life... like laughing.. and eating.
A few weeks ago we all met at Raechel's adorable home and did the above... laughed, a whole lot... and ate, a whole lot. So blessed to have these special ladies in my life.. girls nights have become so fun!

sunday-thriftday

So i ventured out to some thrift stores this afternoon...
my regimen for shopping usually consists of... going somewhere expensive.... browsing.. getting inspired... then going to thrift stores... or cheaper stores to try and find things that are similar in style.. but opposite in price.
Anthropologie is a great example... i absolutely love love love.. the way it smells in there... it could get me to buy anything... every item of clothing is so soft and perfect.
but i cant really afford it. so i browse.. touch everything... get inspired by colors, textures and cuts.
I look through sale items.. just in case... but usually only leaving with one or two things. I've gotten lucky the past few times.. and found jeans for half price.
Then i like to go to antique malls, or just good ole' value village.. and try and find plates, or mugs or anything that looks like it could fit the style im looking for.

Tj Maxx and Marshalls usually does a good job in the homegoods department.. i always find little treasures there... magnifying glasses, hour glass sand timers, old books.. etc..

Heres what i got lucky with today:

wire basket: Value village: $1 / blue mug: sleepypoet antique mall: $2 / Mason jar: Value village: .40cents (mason jars at the antique mall were around $12 i felt very accomplished when i found this one at val.vil.)

green vase: Sleepypoet antique mall $2

after searching and searching thousands of sq. ft. in the antique mall for glasses... nothing was cute enough for the price they were charging... so i caved and bought these babies at antrho..
and the tights... i also caved on.. but i did look at several stores that sell this brand for half price.. and no one had this color. which will go perfect with everything for fall!

So thats it. My day of shopping complete.
i love the challenge of keeping a budget.
but i also love buying something ive wanted, and cant find anything that compares (ie: those cups)

What are some of your thrifting tricks?

oh Hey October!

hello:

Hard to believe October is already a week deep.
I've really enjoyed the cooler weather... and crisp nights!
pumpkin flavored -everything.... new baking endeavors.. Mums, and just the newness of seasons.. on earth.. and in my heart.

This week has definitely been a different kind of living... considering my man has been gone since tuesday... and wont be back til November!!!!!! Im living life like a bachelor. And by bachelor i mean... like sometimes i eat cereal for breakfast lunch and dinner... hah

Thankfully i have sweet friends who have fed me, and entertained me all week... i only had one night alone... and that was last night.. and i still accidentally saw friends :)

for example: Taco Night at Mary Ellen's!! so much fun... home made margaritas.. and fun talks.

this is me and Thermon.... Mary Ellen's pup... i send photos of dogs to luke like every day... (im like the 12 year old.. trying to prove to her parents that she can really handle the responsibility of a pet! hah)

Luke is on quite the adventure these days..... waking up in a new state every morning.. i envy him just a bit. But am there in spirit!

Its so crazy how fast time is flying... there are so many exciting things happening in the next few months!!!!! and 2011 is going to be out of control!!!! sighhh.... life is fun.

things to look forward to:
Halloweeeeeeen
sufjan stevens
hosting my 1st thanksgiving
Rachel coming home from S. Korea
Tran wedding
Christmas in NYC
Lukes BDAY in NYC
New Years in NYC

But for now, im going to enjoy every ounce of my weeks in october... even if its without my partner in crime...
here's to pumpkin scones, pumpkin chili, pumpkin pie, and pumpkin ale!

cheers!

love to all.
